It’s your hair: Trim vs Cut

Hey my Sun Family 🤗🤗

Let’s talk a little bit about hair removal services and why we need to get them!

First, I want to address the wording and it’s differences. Whether you call it a trim or a haircut hair is being removed from your hair we just have to decide how much will be removed. If you book an appointment at Sunshine Avenue and it says haircut, we can still remove just a small amount of hair. If shears come out we call it a haircut on my end.

However, some stylists deem a haircut one inch of hair or more and a trim once inch of hair or less. Either way, hair should be being removed from your head every 3-4 months to help maintain/retain healthy lengths.

We know hair is an essential part of a person's identity and personality. Some people prefer long hair, while others opt for short hair. No matter the length, getting haircuts or trimming hair is essential for healthy hair & length retention. With busy schedules, people often ignore the importance of getting their hair trimmed regularly. Let’s shed some light on the importance of getting your hair trimmed and its benefits.

Why Get Your Hair Trimmed?

Getting a trim or a haircut is vital for many reasons. Here are a few:

1. Reduces Split Ends and Breakage

Split ends and breakage are common hair problems both men and women face. Split ends impair hair growth and lead to thinner hair. Regular trimming helps to reduce split ends and breakage, making your hair look healthier and more voluminous.

2. Promotes Hair Growth

Hair trimming promotes hair growth by removing split ends, which impedes hair growth. When split ends are left untreated, they will move up the hair shaft, affecting the hair's natural growth. Therefore, regular trimming helps to boost hair growth by allowing hair to grow without hindrances.

3. Improves Hair Health

Regular trimming keeps hair healthy by removing damaged hair, making way for new, healthy hair. It also helps to improve hair texture and reduce hair thinning.

4. Maintains Style

A regular haircut helps to maintain hair style by giving it a polished look. Regular trimming ensures that the hair remains the desired length and shape, ensuring that it maintains its style for an extended period.

5. Aids in Managing Hair

Trimming your hair helps to manage it better. A well-maintained hairstyle is easy to style and manage compared to unkempt hair. Regular trimming helps to keep hair manageable by reducing tangles and knots.

Getting regular haircuts or trims is not a luxury but a necessity that promotes healthy hair growth and keeps hair manageable. Regular trimming helps to prevent hair breakage, split ends, improve hair texture, and maintain hair style. It promotes healthy hair growth, giving your hair a fuller, more voluminous look. Therefore, it is essential to make hair trimming part of your hair maintenance routine. Most recommend a regular trim every six to eight weeks to do the trick. As a curl specialist I recommend my curly friends to trim every twelve to sixteen weeks. Not only will your hair look better, but it will feel better too!
